Robotics Expected to be the Next Frontier For Opportunity Seekers Through the Next Decade

To handle the growing robotics business, the Government Accounting Office estimates a need for 300,000 new technicians and support personnel required through 2015.

These opportunities require training and support as well as certification from a variety of sources.

With many companies downsizing and technical training programs available from many state agencies, opportunity seekers should consider entering the robotics field.

According to the National Robotics Education Foundation, support opportunities are expected to jump as these machines become more common.

Among the areas expected to experince significant inroads in robotic-based machines are:

  • In-home toys and products (think vacumn cleaners)
  • Healthcare (research and institutional usage)
  • Manufacturing
  • Remote sensing and monitoring
  • Resource exploration
  • Restaurant management and food deployment
  • Transportation

"All of these areas will need technicians and service personnel to maintain and repair these robotic products," said Donald P. Mazzella, an NREF board member.

Already, technical schools and universities are gearing up to offer courses and certification for these positions.
Opportunity seekers should explore this segment of the market as they seek new avenues for financial stability.
